Normalmente aperto (NO) e normalmente chiuso (NC) significano esattamente quello che dicono. Quando l'interruttore a scorrimento è posizionato su NO (normalmente aperto), premendo il braccio della leva si chiude il circuito. In posizione NC (normalmente chiuso), il circuito rimarrà chiuso finché non si preme il braccio della leva per aprirlo.
